One Lovely Blog Award

One Lovely Blog Award

I was nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by Julia, from iloveyoumorethanicecream.wordpress.com. You can read her stuff on her blog site and follow her on Twitter at https://twitter.com/jm_simpson. Thank you very much, Julia! It totally caught me by surprise and it made a bubble swell right in my chest. A good bubble; one of those happy bubbles that brighten your day like a supernova in the darkest regions of space.

One Lovely Blog Award

So what is the One Lovely Blog Award? Well, to my understanding, it’s like a shout-out that you give to someone and their blog; someone whose stuff you like to read. There are a few rules to this award, and the rules are the following:

  1. You thank the person that nominated you, and you include a link to their blog.
  2. You display the Award (the lovely image with the heart and thin, black letters like the one up there ↑ ).
  3. You share seven facts about yourself.
  4. You nominate fifteen other people and you let them know via Twitter or their blog site.

So that being said, here are the seven facts about myself:

1) I play the guitar.  I learned to play when I was around eighteen, and I picked it up because of two of my main inspirations: James Hetfield from Metallica, and Matt Heafy from Trivium. Rock/Metal and Jazz are the genres I mostly like to play.

2) I’m the type of person that prefers the country than the city. I’ve lived in the big city before, and I honestly used to believe that I loved it. I quickly found out that I didn’t: The “life pace” is too fast for my liking, the noise is nasty, and the space is too limited in my eyes. If you ask me, I’d always say that I prefer a nice property on a beautiful plot of land than a cramped one in the city.

3) My favorite food is spaghetti with garlic bread. There is nothing better than that: Nice, long spaghetti noodles with tomato sauce, Parmesan cheese, juicy meatballs, and some delicious garlic bread. Throw in a glass of wine and you’re actually having the perfect dinner. I think I want some spaghetti now.

4) The first novel I ever read was Hatchet. The book “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen was the first “big book” that I ever read. I was six; I read it at school during our reading hours. Before that, I read mainly series books, like Goosebumps (R.L. Stine), Clue Jr. (Parker C. Hinter), and Cam Jansen (David A. Adler).

5) I have constant claustrophobic dreams. Ever since I was around five, I remember having these terrifying dreams, where I’m walking in a dark room and I feel the black walls and ceiling just closing in on me. There is always this strange, silver, furnace-type thing ahead of me, and as the walls close in, I hear this rushing sound, like thousands of small pebbles rolling down a slope. I haven’t really had any huge claustrophobic experiences in real life, so I’m not sure if I’m actually claustrophobic or not.

6) I’m a big nature lover. I enjoy walking through wooded areas, breathing in the clean air and listening to that natural orchestra of birds, leaves and insects. There is something about nature that makes me feel really alive, and I like that feeling. I thank every tree and every whisper of wind out there for making the world such a cool and detailed place to live in. I feel like a lot of people never give thanks for that.

7) I’m a strong believer in the phrase: Happiness is a choice. If I want to be happy, I’l just do it. I’ll do what I have to do and try my best to plaster a smile on my face. A genuine smile. It’s true that many people don’t choose their situations in which they live through, many times horrible situations, but I think that any person can climb out of any dark pit and find a happy life. Even the loneliest and driest seeds can poke out from the ground and turn into a beautiful plant.

So those were the seven facts about myself. Now I’m going to list a few of my nominees for the award. I’m bending the rule a bit and listing only a few, so I hope you go check them out and become a follower! (:

So to the nominees I picked out, you’re not obliged to participate in this if you don’t want to. And if you already happened to get the award in the past, well, congrats and keep on writing! Thanks again, Julia! (:
